Ritsumeikan University has more than 450 clubs, of which about 430 are members of the Gakuyukai (Ritsumeikan Univ. Student Council). Each club belongs to an organization called the Extracurricular Offices, which supports each club. Specifically, we discuss with university and subsidize part of the costs of activities from Gakuyukai membership fees. All this support is provided by students only.

The 3 Extracurricular Offices support clubs belonging to their own offices. The 3 kinds of clubs are “sports”, “academic”, “arts and sciences”.
There are 4 group classification in this university. The higher the classification, the more support you get from the Gakuyukai and the university, but the more responsibility you have.
Certified Clubs
The Certified Clubs are supported by the 3 extracurricular offices. They have the right to receive fees, access to university facilities without restrictions, and have individual rooms.
Amateur Clubs
The Amateur clubs are supported by the 3 extracurricular offices. They have the right to use university facility without restriction and have a room shared with other clubs.
Voluntary Clubs
The Voluntary clubs are supported by Academic Clubs Office and Arts & Sciences Clubs Office. They have the right to use university facility without restriction.
Registration Clubs
Registration Clubs are about 300 clubs. They have the rights to use university facility under restriction.
